Unbound Saga is a straight 'beat'em up' where you go from one side of the screen to the other cleaning the clocks of human-sized beavers, homeless dudes, and special forces. The thing is, once you get past that engaging story, slick cutscenes and well done voice work, you're left with a one-trick pony in terms of gameplay that really isn't going to turn any heads. Finish one of the game's 10 levels, and you get a fun moving comic book cutscene that features voices and more. When an area's clear, an arrow points you in the right direction, and Rick hops into the next panel. Cool, goofy enemies (werewolves, Eskimos, etc.) are drawn on the screen by The Maker's hand and the dynamic duo has to punch and kick the baddies until they're reduced to papers in the wind. and find environments featuring comic book backgrounds that Rick and Lori exist on top of in 3D.

You'll walk into an area - secret bases, sewers, etc. Along the way, he picks up Lori, and you've suddenly got a game where you can switch between the two onscreen characters at any time. After years of this, Rick's had enough and has set out on a journey to find the puppet master and cut the strings once and for all so that he can live his own life. He doesn't want to do this, but The Maker - see: comic artist - keeps tossing him into situations where that's all he can do. For as long as he can remember, Rick Ajax has been a leather-wearing tough guy who beats the bad guys up.

Thankfully, this 258 MB PlayStation Network download from Vogster Entertainment provides plenty of laughs as roughneck Rick and sexy Lori battle their way out of a comic book and deal with all the comic book clichés you'd expect to find, but the gameplay leaves something to be desired. Don't let that comparison fool you I'm not saying Unbound is lazy or just a carbon copy of Comix Zone, but the similarities are definitely there and obvious.
